Garden lovefest

One of the most exciting things over the summer is our produce garden.
Love, sweat & family- we have all put our hearts into it in someway.
This is my first experience and learning everyday.
I feel so much is growing right before our eyes…

Pumpkin Patch! Yes, we have a pumpkin patch

All of these are grown by seeds.
Lots of the pumpkins are already large and perfectly round.

Acorn squash is winding it’s way through the potatoes. It was a surprise to me one day when I discovered these.

My son Jaden was out in the garden with me for hours last weekend. It was such special, unplanned time together.
He saw I was working away on the squash leaves. He was loving the bees. I told him to take some photos. He could not believe how they were covered in pollen. He was zooming, clicking away and in the moment.
He was so excited to show me.
We also admired the potato starters he planted. They are healthy & so happy he shared. We talked about our chicks we will be getting. Also, the names had us both giggling with so much laughter.

Our wild bunnies had babies. It is not a surprise when I’m working in the garden and hear something, then turn around and there is one of the babies or momma.

Bring on the butternut!
This has me dreaming of all the fall butternut dishes I love to make.

I was super excited for these artichokes to be ready to eat. I had a plan in the works for over a month.
Steaming for a bit then off to the grill.

Yes, I love going to the garden and all of the sudden overnight a few more show up.
Happy beautiful Eggplant!

Cherry tomatoes- we are not in short supply of these beauties.

It took several hours…our fennel was exploding. I’m drying all the fennel seeds. I use fennel for so many recipes. Also, being more of a French inspired Herb. I will be making a large batch of herbs de provence.

I’m now working on our second round of germination of organic seeds.
Learning a lot and following many NW produce/garden blogs.
A lot of them grow the colder produce year round.
I’m definitely going to do my best to keep what I can producing.
Honestly…nothing compares to fresh, free from pesticides and toxins.
It is so worth all the time, not just for myself but for my family.

This is serenity.
