The summer has been nothing less than perfect in the northwest.

Starting our produce garden this year was definitely the right thing to do.

With the over abundance of produce I had to learn quickly the importance of “saving the season”

Canning production has begun!

One of the family favorites is slow roasted marinara sauce. With the endless tomatoes this was the perfect recipe to start my canning.

Salsa is next!

Salsa verde- this is one of my favorites so far!

Tomato & fresh basil sauce

Tomato Jam- I only made a small batch as I was unsure if I was going to love… Well, this is my second favorite to salsa verde.
Savory with a touch of sweetness!

Blackberries! So many wild ones…
I of course made jam. Clean eating, no sugar. Made with local honey.
I also did a jalapeño one as well.

My son Bren helped pick berries… He was loving how they stained his hands.

I would love a peach tree some day… I was obsessing on my local canning. I happened to be at our local outdoor market and purchased a few peaches. I love being able to can these. Of course I have them spiced to the nines with fresh nutmeg, splash of vanilla, turbinado sugar & spiced rum.

Upcoming canning:
I just harvested about 20lbs of green beans. Recently my mom shared a recipe for canning these with a twist- Spicy! Dried chilies ginger & garlic. Perfect, I have everything.
